Nettle WASH CLOTH

Known as a flannel here in the UK, this little wash cloth is ideal for washing the face and gently exfoliating the skin.

Each piece is hand-knitted by villagers in Eastern Nepal using exceptionally fine, handspun nettle yarn.

This little cloth reminds us of our beautiful connection with nature. From remote mountain villages to our everyday lives, it connects the hands that make it with those that use it — keeping care, tradition and joy flowing between us.

It is also a lovely introduction to Himalayan Giant Nettle, known locally as Allo, which grows wild at high altitudes in Nepal and can reach three metres tall.

I first encountered Allo on my first visit to Nepal in 2003. Its softness drew me in, and I have loved it ever since — even more than hemp.

When I moved to the UK in 2009, I was amazed to find nettles growing everywhere. Although they are different speciesd, their familiar presence made me feel a connection between these distant places, and between us all.

My little wish is that this cloth might reach someone who feels disconnected from nature — and gently remind them of their own place within it.
