These sun hats have been handcrafted in Nepal using Hemp or Linen for the main body with a soft cotton lining.
Hemp – Tailored from soft hanspun Himalayan hemp thread that has been handwoven into a fabric. This hat features cotton for the lining and linen for the underside of the brim. The hand spun thread creates a timeless and uneven character with a rustic charm. Harvesting, retting, hand spinning and hand weaving of the fibres has been carried out by villagers of the Himalayan foothills in much the same way that it has been done for centuries.
Linen – Tailored from a tightly woven lightweight fabric with a yarn from India and featuring a soft cotton lining. The tightly machine spun and machine woven fibre forms a uniform fabric giving a neat look.
To provide rigidity to the brim and allow for personal shaping, there is a metal wire inside the outer edge of the brim. These great sun hats can be packed flat which makes them ideal for travelling. To help them last for many summers to come, the wire shouldn’t be folded.
