Shika Deer Antler Pendant

This simple pendant has been crafted from a slice of Shika deer antler sourced from the mountains of Yamanashi precfecture, Japan. Handmade by Nathan Schreiber.

Shika deer were native to much of East Asia, and were introduced to many countries including the UK. They are now uncommon in many countries of East Asia, excluding Japan, where the species is overabundant. The name (often pronounced “Sika” in the UK) comes from the Japanese word for “deer”.

The 6 ply cord has been crafted from wax coated hemp thread and the toggle has been carved from Shika deer antler.
