This simple yet stylish pendant has been crafted from a polished slice of petrified wood. With a Rudraksha seed that slides along the hemp cord, it is possible to adjust the height of the pendant around your neck. Rudraksha seeds are traditionally used for prayer beads by Hindus (as well as Sikhs and Buddhists). Both ends of the cord have been decorated with gemstones.
Petrified wood (from the Greek petro meaning "stone", literally "wood turned to stone") is the name given to a special type of fossilized remains of terrestrial vegetation. In general, wood takes less than 100 years to petrify. The organic matter needs to become petrified before it decomposes completely.
