Description

Tablet weaving (often called card weaving) is a technique that dates back to at least the early Iron age. The tablets are used to create the shed through which the weft is passed by lifting selected warp threads. This craft technique is limited to narrow work such as belts, straps and garment trim.

Our set of six weaving tablets have been hand crafted from a Nepalese hardwood called ‘Saz’, a large sub-tropical Himalayan tree found up to altitudes of 1200m.

Our tablets are left unmarked, but can easily be marked so that their facings and orientations can be easily noticed.

Due to the raw material’s texture and the handmade nature of these tools, some variation in tone and texture may occour.
