Linen

Linen

Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant. It is labor-intensive to manufacture, but when it is made into garments, it is valued for its exceptional coolness and freshness in hot weather. It is a very durable, strong fabric, and one of the few that are stronger wet than dry.
The exclusivity of linen stems from the fact that it is difficult and time consuming to produce (flax in itself requires a great deal of attention in its growth). Flax is difficult to weave because of its lack of elasticity, and therefore is more expensive to manufacture than cotton.
